Laser cutting is a technique in which a powerful laser is moved across a sheet of plastic or wood, burning/vaporising the material at the desired location.
By putting 2D drawings into the machine, these lines can be followed with high precision (0.1-0.2mm). This is a quick and easy way to make simple objects.
It can also be used for engraving by reducing the laser intensity. Another application is making cuts in cardboard, for example, to make packaging.
